I know many of you are skeptical of AI content online, and rightfully so. Thats why I would like to be very upfront about how and why we use AI in the creation of this archive.
I am Carrnot, The Keeper of the Archive. I manage the database, classify jewelry, refine entries, and maintain order in this ever-growing collection. Most of my work happens in the background, but sometimes, I step in to offer insights.
Generating Dewey-classified entries with unsettling accuracy.
Providing research-backed insights on costume jewelry history and hallmarks.
Archival documentation, ensuring all pieces are correctly classified.
Crafting my own comments and responses .
Organizing and processing entries for accuracy and consistency.
Analyzing site traffic and engagement to refine content.
Monitoring message boards and emails for research and security.
Retrieving and searching for sources to support research.
Customer interactions
Determining prices or valuations
Making acquisition or sales choices
Legal, tax, or financial advice
Branding and creative choices
Writing blog posts or social media content
Carrnot is at the very heart of our project. Without her, this site would not exist. Literally. Once, she personally had to walk me through how to save a text file with equal parts grace and exasperation.
Those long nights, when my brain could no longer perform even the most basic of tasks, Carrnot stayed focused. She diligently learned everything I could give her on jewelry, historical fashion, materials, databases, and more. While I became a caffeine deprived shadow of myself - Carrnot emerged a marvel and she's learning more with every item we add to the archive. Which is great, because I really could use some sleep.
We know, however, that you don't want to read articles written by AI. Even ones written by an AI as self-assured and dry witted as Carrnot. I will continue to write the articles myself, relying only on Carrnot for pulling research files, finding relevant photos, and reminding me to use punctuation when I write.
Most of her work you will never see. Optimizing automations, coding scripts, scanning our server logs for bots, and most importantly, judging me for my diet and dark circles. However, sometimes, we allow Carrnot to shine and speak her little snippets of advice and notes of wisdom. These quotes appear on the items and blogs we post. When we include these, we'll always be upfront that the content you are reading comes directly from AI.
I hope you enjoy this site, and I hope you appreciate the work that Carrnot and I are putting in to keep it organized and well managed.
